Welcome to Montgomery Christian School.

We offer an academically challenging education in a Christian environment to families with limited school choice.

We believe elementary school should provide a sound foundation in order to produce life-long learners. Our students receive instruction in the core curricular subjects as well as the arts.

Our teachers and staff are dedicated to teaching and training the whole child so that they will be contributing members in our school and in the community. Come by and see the exciting learning taking place every day at MCS!

The history of MCS

In 2005 a like-minded group of people who had been tutoring at Patterson Court developed an idea for a school that would offer a Christian school choice for families who could not afford a traditional private school. To study this possibility a larger committee was formed which met monthly for two years.

Schools across the southeast were visited and knowledgeable individuals who had started similar schools were interviewed. After much study and prayer, Montgomery Christian School was started in 2007 with one kindergarten class of 11 students. In 2009 a first grade was added with the next higher grade added each subsequent year.

Trinity Presbyterian Church offered the space in their education building for the school. Eight years later the school grew to Kindergarten through 5th grade with waiting lists in nearly every grade. MCS is now a community school with children attending from all across the River Region. In 2017, after ten years at TPC, MCS bought the old Green Gate School on McGehee Road, and we currently have an enrollment of 118 students and have outgrown this space. We are currently looking for a larger building.

In the first years of the school, support mainly came from individuals but currently, businesses, family foundations, churches, and community service organizations are also in partnership with MCS.

Students at MCS not only receive an excellent academic education but are also provided a variety of enrichment activities. The Meet the Masters Art curriculum introduces the young people to Master Artists at every grade level. They are also provided music, library, and other enrichment classes weekly.

Montgomery Christian School offers an academically excellent education that is affordable to almost every family as every child receives a scholarship. Although it costs $8,700 a year to educate one child, the average tuition is only $50 per month based on family income. Affordable tuition and parent involvement are two core principles that set MCS apart from every other school in the River Region.
